The objective of this work was to compare the water situation reported in the literature with press releases on the problems. A study was carried out with newspapers and national circulation published from 2019 to 2021. The categories of service quality in a demarcation of central Mexico were analyzed. The Water Service Framing Inventory (IESH) was constructed to compare the diffusion of the media with the review of the literature, reaching a value of 102 points out of a total of 180. This finding was considered as evidence of a moderate media coverage of the press on the problems derived from water scarcity. Based on the results, its implications are analyzed with other studies carried out in the demarcation.
