Theme-based teaching is currently increasingly focused and it helps students to research the problem completely and apply knowledge logically while they can discover and solve problems that associate with real life. The content of the General Education curriculum, the Science subject in 2018 is highly logical and suitable for designing teaching themes. Teachers can base on the orientations and requirements of the curriculum to design themes which are suitable for local practical conditions. This paper proposes the 5-step process of designing a theme in teaching The Cell - The basic unit of life bases on theoretical basis studies, principles and the content of curriculum 2018. The steps of the process are analyzed and provided specific examples that will be the reference for teachers when they design themes in teaching Science 6.
