The management of standardized educational institutions is an critical trend of the education system in the context of international integration, especially for universities where high-level human resource directly for the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country are trained. Currently, universities, colleges, vocational  and high schools do not use standards to manage, but only use standards to evaluate their institutions. The use of the standard does not match with its function so many inadequacies are revealed and the evaluation results do not reflect the reality of the school while the management mode does change. The problem is that managers do not use the standard set of functions. The author analyzes the system of university management standards, the difference between the traditional criteria for school evaluation and the importance of standards for university management nowadays.KeywordsStandard, criteria, standard based management system, quality management.References[1] Thông tư số 12/2017/TT-BGDĐT ngày 19 tháng 5 năm 2017 của Bộ trưởng Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo.[2] Nguyễn Đức Chính (2015), Phát triển chương trình giáo dục, Nhà xuất bản Giáo dục.[3] Nguyễn Đức Chính (2015), Quản lí chất lượng giáo dục, Nhà xuất bản Giáo dục.
