Schools in diverse settings pose leadership challengeswith the principal. Theyalso afford opportunities. A principalwho asserts a leadership role and takesthe risk of reculturing the school engagesstudents and teachers as well as the communityat large in the educationalendeavor. Through a case study ofRideau High School, Ottawa, this articleexplores interventions that help build a"community of leamers. " In this case,the principal taps on the uniqueness ofthe community by linking outside andinside resources in the school throughcultural interpreters.
