This paper examines the conflict betweenethnospecific immigrant servingorganisations and so called "mainstream"organisations. The author arguesthat most of the criticisms raisedagainst ethnospecific organisations areideologically based and are meant toconsolidate the positions of mainstreamorganisations. Through "neutral policies"such as fiscal restraint, ethnospecificagencies are increasinglyperipherized in the service provisionmarket. This piece concludes that attemptsto resolve the conflict have onlyled to further and wider polarisation.
