One of the main challenges associated with the development of the LNG market for the transport sector is to increase the number of vessels using LNG as fuel. The main technical issues in this area are related to the development and improvement of various types of CNG engines. Natural gas is used as a bunkering fuel mainly in a liquefied state, which is explained by the physicochemical properties of LNG, as well as the weight and dimensions of storage systems. Currently, there are a number of reasons why LNG will be increasingly used as a bunker fuel in water transport: environmental, economic, administrative and political, technic.
