The paper presents the synthetic diagnosis of the social and economical situation of thestudied region, especially referring to the state and development tendencies of small and me-dium-sized enterprises in dynamic perspective, that is in years 20012005. The author presentsconditions for small and medium-sized enterprises functioning and development, which are laidin regional business environment, on the other hand he focuses on developmental tendenciesof SMEs sector in the studied region.
