The processes of socio-economic development take place at the different-scale spatial systems within the geographical space (from the local through the national to the global level). The geographical space covers a diverse natural space, various potential of the socio-economic and cultural space, as well as active and passive relations that occur between their elements. One of the important parts of the socio-economic space is the spatial structure of industry whose fundamental element is an industrial enterprise.The theme of this discussion is the issue of the behaviour of an industrial enterprise in the spatial structure of industry in the light of Polish research in the field of industrial geography. Specific attention will be paid to the development and functions of industrial enterprise in the spatial structure of industry.
