Историография российского ориентализма: к вопросу о методологии исследования

The article is devoted to the issue of how the image of “East” is percepted in Russia. The article critically analyses works published on the topic both in Russia and abroad. A great deal of interest to Russia’s colonial past in Western historiography has recently resulted in a substantial number of works dealing with how Russian mentality percepts east-end borders of the Russian Empire. Works by Russian authors are considerably less in number. This conditions a certain ideological bias concerning the problem.
