Populations of the Carpathian endemite Lissotriton montandoni are firstly described from the northern slope of the Făgăraş Mountains and the Leaota Mountains, thus bridging a gap in the known distribution, and extending it. The Făgăraş records are discussed in the context of the previously advanced biogeographical hypotheses on the range of L. montandoni .
