This study aims to explain the text of Willem Iskander's Si Bulus-Bulus Si Rumbuk-Rumbuk in postcolonial discourse. The text and the author were very contradictory and paradoxical. In one side, the discourse of resistance are revealed,  but on the other hand it also kept the discourse on colonial construction. This writer uses the postcolonial approach and discursive method to analyze the penomenon. This study uses the discourse that was built by two experts, Rodgers and Harahap, who concentrated on researching the texts of Si Bulus-Bulus Si Rumbuk-Rumbuk and Willem Iskander. Through this discursive method, the writer reconstruct the opinions of the two experts using postcolonial perspective. Beside looked at the text, the writer also consider in social, political, and the Mandailing people culture as supporting culture. The results show that Willem Iskander is an ambivalent figure. A figure who voiced resistance as well as a figure who obeyed colonial construction. The implications of this article can give a theoretical contribution to postcolonial studies of literature, especially Mandailing literature
