During the entire period of their governance in Ayrarat province, Vachutian viceroys paid special attention to the spiritual, educational, and cultural life of Niger-Aragatsotn (current Aparan and Ashtarak regions) belonging to their property in the years 1206-1350. Schools of different educational levels functioned in Hovhanavank, Saghmosavank and Tegheniats Monasteries located in Nig-Aragatsotn, where terminology, philosophy, music, and philology were studied.
