The article analyzes theoretical sources on the problem of youth’s readiness for family life. The stages of youth’s readiness for marriage, presented in the works of T.V. Andreeva, V.A. Sysenko, I.V. Grebennikova, components of psychological readiness in the works of I.Yu. Zudilina are discussed. The results of an empirical study that reveals the assumption of the existence of a relationship between psychological readiness and the motivation of choosing a partner are presented.
