The article deals with the problem of rendering different types of phraseological units in folklore discourse translation from the Chinese, English and Ukrainian languages. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of translating mythological units, allusions and Chinese utterances ’chen yu’. The translation tactics and operations employed to render the semantics and pragmatics of the source discourse by means of typologically distant languages have also been analyzed.
