The paper discusses the development of transportation systems in the context of social development, their interrelation, motive forces and restrictions. The trends in the development of society and transport systems have been traced throughout the human events. There have been substantiated the requirements for the transport priority development as one of driving forces of social development. There have been formulated the standards for the modern transport systems which play the integral part in the modern economy. The reasons and stages of containerization improvement have been considered. The principles of the integrated development of containerization as a modern global delivery system have been identified and form
