The results of examinations of technical state for 5600 vehicles have been presented in this paper. The investigations have been carried out in 1998 – 2018. The range of inspections and their frequency has been determined according to the law requirements. The examinations according to the methodology including an extended range of test were carried out for a control group of 340 vehicles. Vehicles in control group were maintained strictly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The inspections for these vehicles were carried out during technical periodical servicing. The percentage of significant defects which were detected in control group was significantly higher.
