The article discusses the problem of the functioning of the urban bicycle system in the aspect of meeting transport needs in Polish cities. The principles of the system functioning in cities as well as the assessment of existing municipal bike systems in Poland and basic conditions for the functioning of the urban bike system in cities and the expectations of potential users of this system in the context of displacements are presented.
