The article discusses the basic problems concerning the functioning of the transport system in cities. The most important problems resulting from the high traffic volume in relation to the city's transport network were pointed out. An important scope of the considerations presented in the publication is also the analysis of the number of people performing car movements in urban space, including its diversification in terms of time: day time, day of the week and spatial coverage.
