The article deals with some issues of personal data processing and management in Russian libraries interactions with licensed resources providers. The author analyzes international practice on the libraries’ way to establishing main principles of personal data privacy and security: minimal data transfer and informed patron’s agreement on personal data processing. List of principles set up by “NISO consensus principles on users’ digital privacy in library, publisher, and software-provider systems” are analyzed as well as American Library Association documents. Specific problems of personal data transfer from Russian electronic library systems providers to libraries are analyzed and some solutions are suggested.
