Vaccination is the most effective way of protection against infectious diseases. Children with rheumatic diseases (RD) are at greater risk of infection because both the disease and the therapy, administered to control it affect the functions of the immune system. The paper analyzes existing data in the literature regarding the risk of vaccine-associated autoimmune reactions, as well as the efficacy and tolerability of vaccination in children with RD. Current recommendations for immunization of children with RD, published by experts, are given.
