Transplantation of the intestine is quite new and most effective treatment for short bowel syndrome (SBS). Improving early graft survival due to the reduction in the rate of acute rejection after transplantation while minimizing toxicity, achieved at the expense of significant progress in immunosuppression. Recently, the multi-visceral transplantation has been applied more and more widely. The article highlights the mechanisms of disorders that occur in bowel transplantation, possible ways to manage side effects with a view to long-term graft survival.
