The article presents results of a survey of 87 infants with community-acquired pneumonia. It has been established that the children, especially those with complicated pneumonia, had a reduction of general carnitine in the blood, indicating the presence of cellular energy deficit. Detection of carnitine deficiency determines the appropriateness of its correction.
