This paperreports the findings of an experimental pretest-posttest control group design conducted to investigate students’ critical and creative mathematical abilities using Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach. Subjects o this study were 88 eleventh grade students of a Senior High School in Bandung. The instruments of the study were two sets of critical and creative thinking mathematical abilities tests, and a set of attitude scale. The data was analysed by using t–test.The study found that : 1) Students’ gain on critical and creative thinking mathematical abilities of PBL class were higher than those students’ abilities of conventional class; 2) Students performed spositive attitude towardPBL approach.
