The development of electric vehicles necessitates the creation of charging stations` infrastructure, which, given the small size of the fleet, requires solving the problem of the optimal location of appropriate facilities. The article presents an analysis of scientific approaches in the area under consideration, which has made it possible, simultaneously with an analysis of the features of the functioning of the charging stations` infrastructure, to develop an algorithm for the optimal location of charging stations in the cities of the Russian Federation. To achieve the results of the work, the methods of system analysis and methods of optimal location of socially significant objects were applied. In the future, the approach is going to be applied in the algorithm of the methodology for substantiating the parameters of the urban charging stations` infrastructure for electric vehicles.
