A shift in word meaning is a term that explain the phenomenom of a word which its meaning has been distincted from the perspective of the original. The article is talking about a shift the meaning of a word funny that right now is different from its lexical meaning in KBBI. The purpose of this research is to describe a shift the meaning of the word funny that has been found on social media Twitter. The study was carried out with the theory used the semantics changes of the meanings. This research is diversified as a descriptive qualitative while the data that has being analyzed formed in sentences which contain the word funny. The source of the data for this research was taken from Twitter. Furthermore, the data was being analyzed using a method by agih and techniques of the basis for direct element (BUL). The result of this research indicating that the word funny has shifts its meaning from ‘evoked laughter’ to ‘express admiration’ and ‘emphasize odd things’.
