Pubic osteitis is an infrequent inflammatory, overuse stress injury of the pubic symphysis (PS) and periarticular soft tissues. This injury can be seen particularly in athletes, especially in those who participate in sports involving running and kicking with sudden changes in speed and direction. Its etiology and clinical presentation are highly variable, which sometimes makes diagnosis difficult. Sports restriction and performance deterioration are frequent in PO and therefore an early diagnosed must be done to avoid chronic progression. Treatment remains controversial due to little scientific evidence.
