The article concerns the problems of the sense of life and self-esteem in people in their late adulthood. The study was aimed at capturing the relationship between the sense of the meaning of life in people of late adulthood and their self- esteem. We then  analyzed  the  problem  of  whether  the  variable  of  the  place of residence of  the  respondents  (private  home  vs  home  with  social  assistance is a differentiating factor in their sense of the meaning of life and their level of self- esteem.  In  order  to  answer  the  questions  surveyed  using:  Questionnaire  about attitudes to life and the Rosenberg Self-Assessment Scale. The participants in this study group of 100 people in late adulthood, were divided into two groups of 50 people. In the first group were residents of private homes, in the other group, nursing home residents in Betania in Lublin. Studies have shown a significant relationship between the level of sense of life and the place of residence. It has been shown also that people living in a nursing home have a higher level of acceptance of death than those living in private houses.
