Статья посвящена отношению к личности М.И. Ростовцева в Советском Союзе, последующему изменению восприятия его научного наследия и переоценке той роли, которую оказал великий русский археолог и антиковед на российскую науку уже в постсоветской России. М.И. Ростовцев вынужден был эмигрировать из России после революции 1917 года и впоследствии обосноваться в США. В Советской России его на- учная деятельность была заочно подвергнута жесткой критике, определена как бур- жуазная , однако уже в перестроечное время произошла переоценка его личности, трудов и подчеркнута его значимая роль в становлении российской науки. The article focuses on the attitude towards M.I. Rostovtsevs personality in the Soviet Union, changing perceptions and the follow-up evaluation of the infl uence of the great Russian archeologist and antiquity researcher on the Russian science in the post-Soviet Russia. M.I. Rostovtsev had to emigrate from Russia after the Revolution of 1917 and subsequently settled in the USA. In Soviet Russia his scientifi c activity was heavily critisized in absentia, it was defi ned as bourgeois, however during the perestroika years there was revaluation of his personality and works, and also a recognition of his signifi cant role in the formation of the Russian science.
