Rhizocaulon R. C. Mehrotra (fossil ? Araceae ) is a later homonym of Rhizocaulon Saporta (fossil ? Poaceae ) published in 1861 and is, therefore, illegitimate. A new generic name Rhizocaulites is proposed here as a replacement.
