For the Flora of North America , Smith & Flory (2002) recognized 15 species and four infraspecific taxa of Hymenocallis in the southeastern United States from Texas and Oklahoma east to Virginia. Here we justify the selection of names used for these taxa in the Flora of North America treatment and typify those names.
