This commentary briefly describes the development and organization of two research instruments for use in L2 classroom observation research and in L2 teacher education/reflective practice. They are contrasted in terms of the different perspectives they take on descriptions of classroom behaviours—one that provides a broader and more general view and the other that is more specific and focussed in its description
