This article proposes that instructors of advanced ESL courses for executives adopt a methodology which allows these executives to use the managerial skills and styles they have developed over the years. The case method suits the learning style of most adults, particularly those in business, since it allows them to discuss issues which interest them and about which they can offer their professional advice. This article explains the case method and justifies its appropriateness for these specialized courses. It suggests ways for the instructor to act as consultant to the group, and it describes other functions the instructor should perform. In essence, it urges instructors to trade the culture of the classroom for the culture of the boardroom.
