One of several indicators of cultivated area produced by Statistics Canada combines, by regression estimation, remotely sensed data with ground data collected from a survey with a complex design. This paper presents the methodology used to collect and process data from each source. Four regression estimators along with their variance estimators are given. Of these, two are poststratified. Results obtained from two applications are compared.
