It is brought to my attention by the authors of thepaper “A note on the expected values of poers oa matrix”, which appeared in the Notes & Student's Corner of this Journal {conad. J. Statist., Vol, No. 1, 1973, pp. 123–125}, that the main theorem in their article is not valid unless stronger conditions are impsed on the family of matrices. At present they are unable to supply the necesary and sufficient conditions fo rthe validity of their result.
