. The effects of grazing by the molluscs Helix aspersa and Deroceros reticulatus on six plant species of early successional plant communities was studied. Mixtures of Hypochoeris radicata, Plantago lanceolata, Plantago major, Ranunculus acris and Lolium perenne were grown from seed and subjected to grazing. Percentage cover and total yield were determined for grazed and ungrazed mixtures. Grazing had a significant effect on four out of the five species and the differences between the two mollusc species were significant for four species.
