SUMMARY This paper exploits recent developments in computer visualization to generate new graphical representations of event history data. The resulting three‐dimensional displays are closely related to Lexis plots and can show the complete complexity of the collected data. As in dynamic graphics, the displays can be rotated, zoomed and otherwise manipulated to investigate particular features of the data. A reanalysis of an existing data set of family work histories shows their practical use.
