Summary Cumulative sum procedures are well established for monitoring continuous processes to detect changes in level of one or more process parameters. The methods outlined below extend the use of cusums to situations where the sample elements vary in magnitude. Corresponding Shewhart procedures are also presented and some estimation problems are considered.
