Summary Preece and Gower (1974) advocated an iterative computer procedure for estimating mixed‐up values in experiments. In this note a simple non‐iterative method using dummy covariates is described. One advantage of the method is that it can be easily incorporated into a similar computer procedure for estimating missing values.
