Summary The estimation of the relationship, in particular a calibration, between two variables is considered when observations are taken from several groups. Both variables may be subject to sampling and/or measurement error variation that is not necessarily homogeneous over groups. A generalized least squares approach is given which consists of fitting the relationship to a pair of summary statistics for each group and the method illustrated by an example.
