The theory, design, and construction of a timing circuit based on three commercially available 24—hr time switches is described. The circuit may be used to control a pumping system to simulate tidal cycles; periodicities up to 47 hr may be programed. The specific use of this device in the cyclical operation of a tide pump for 6 hr 12 min, in a cycle of 12 hr 24 min, is described and its reliability is outlined.
