A short—focus telescope that allows point quadrat sampling for ground cover assessment with a high degree of accuracy has been developed for use in pasturelands. The equipment is sufficiently accurate and precise to allow it to be used as a standard for the correction of assessments carried out with established techniques yet it is easy to use and can be value for survey work.
