A series of small carts on a set of tracks running down into the water at a 35° angle to a depth of 14.3 m below mean lower low water and used for experimental outplantings of benthic marine algae. Algae attached to the carts were grown at known depths. The experimental utilization of natural environmental conditions provided basic information on the growth and reproduction of larger marine algae.
