Durand (1808) described three species of Chloris Sw. (Poaceae) for the Philippines. In fact they are American: C. hispida P. Durand is Bouteloua hirsuta Lag., C. peregrina P. Durand is C. rufescens Lag., and C. procumbens P. Durand is Bouteloua prostrata Lag. The likely modern identities of the other six Chloris species treated in the work are noted.
