Summary Many, especially European, theses and dissertations were required to be issued in a printed version rather than as a typescript and so were available in fairly large numbers of copies. Discussion involves some bibliographic aids for getting into the thesis and dissertation literature, some sources for abstracts of the theses and dissertations, and some suggestions for citing these in bibliographies.
