POL YPODIUM FLABELLIFORME RECONSIDERED

Summary The lectotypification of Polypodium flabelliforme Poiret by C. Morton has more recently been rejected by Pichi Sermolli. The latter maintains Poiret's description to have been based solely on a Plumier plate and not at all on the specimen selected by Morton. My analyses of Poiret's description, the specimen, and the plate suggests Pichi Sermolli's position to be untenable. The original lectotypification should therefore be sustained.
