Summary A case is made for rejecting the proposal (520) for conserving Notodanthonia Zotov (1963). It is suggested that the lectotypification of Plinthanthesis by Blake (1972) stand. Monostachya is recognized as a distinct genus with four new species (three new combinations) and a new combination is made in Chionochloa .
