Summary The proposal by R. D. Meikle to amend Article 32 ( Taxon 28(5/6): 600–601, 1979) should be rejected. It has an arbitrary purpose in intending to validate a name in a sense contrary to what its author arguably intended, and contrary to general usage of that name. Further, it does not achieve the intended result, although it may be mistakenly held to do so.
