Summary A lectotype is chosen for Bignonia crucigera L. which proves to be synonymous with Pithecoctenium echinatum (Jacq.) Baill. The new combination Pithecoctenium crucigerum (L.) A. Gentry is proposed for this wellknown neotropical species.
