Summary Henri Pittier was one of the most important plant collectors in the Republic of Panama during the time of the construction of the Panama Canal by the Americans (1903‐1914). The purpose of this paper is to discuss in detail Pittier's botanical activities in the Republic and to include a list of those collections which are type collections.
