Summary A biographical sketch of the botanical activities of the Swiss physician Frédéric Allamand (1735–?). Allamand visited Suriname in 1756 and 1760 and put his botanical annotations of those trips at the disposal of Linnaeus. In later years, when in St. Petersburg, he sent the remainder of his collections (part of them had been lost) to Linnaeus.
